SHOWCASE RECAP

Over 80 people attended the 2nd Construction + Design Showcase to celebrate the future of construction + design with Chris and Coach Bree. We were inspired by the future entrepreneurial plans, services, and products presented by Chris and Coach Bree, two exceptionally talented rising construction + design entrepreneurs. It was was the event to be to experience creativity and innovation while connecting with like-minded professionals and community members who share our passion for construction and design.

By the end of Chris and Coach Bree’s presentations collectively they were offered $26,800 in business opportunities from mural projects to sponsored tickets to their upcoming events and pro bono services.

Coach Bree said “Being able to pitch at the showcase was an incredible experience. It felt great to be validated and to be heard by members of the community. Chris said “For me the biggest impact from the Showcase was the amount of support from both people who were familiar with cooperative housing to those unfamiliar and wanting to learn more. Being offered the opportunity to teach high school kids and their families about cooperative economics and cooperative housing was a full circle moment for me It was because of the kids that I even started on this endeavor. Many of them are of high school age or have graduated and may be parents themselves now. I also value the people who expressed interest in sponsoring seats for my future workshops. I’m grateful and excited for the opportunities that opened up during the showcase. Chris is a rising Interior Architect, Property Developer, and Co-founder and Co Director of Kuumba Collaborative, a future cohousing community. Chris is passionate about and committed to ensuring people have access to affordable, quality and safe housing that is a reflection of the residents residing in the community through shared ownership.

Coach Bree is an Urban Rock Muralist and Artist Coach who brings accessible and sustainable art into Black Indigenous People of Color communities. She offers year round rock painting, murals, artist coaching and community building workshops to schools, orgs, and companies through her company The Albany Rock Project. 

Chris and Coach Bree are student entrepreneurs in our 18 month career and business education program for rising construction and design professionals seeking to elevate their career as employees or entrepreneurs in the construction + design industries.
