Career Exploration, Education + Mentorship That Prepares You for the Workforce!

The Teen Institutes are 8 month paid internship programs for teens ages 16-18. You will explore various career options and learn key business operations skills and knowledge through career education workshops led by industry professionals. You will focus on topics such as brand development, graphic design, color theory, budgeting and more.

WHO THESE INSTITUTES ARE FOR

AGE: Teens ages 16-18.

PRIORITY FOCUS: While our Institutes are open to all, our priority is to center and elevate the voices, qualifications and presence of Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPoC) and/or individuals with low-moderate income. We welcome teens who are exploring careers in the construction and design (interior design, interior decorating and mural painting) or fashion and beauty industries.

You must have at least 1 year of experience in the industries through a Capital Region of NY based Career and Technical Education (CTE) program such as cosmetology, barbering or construction or have developed knowledge or skills with our focused industries by teaching yourself.

THE INSTITUTES

The Teen Construction + Design Institute assists teens with exploring careers and gaining work experience in construction, interior design, interior decorating and/or mural painting industries. If you are seeking to roll your sleeves up to be an electrician or carpenter and/or making buildings beautiful with decor or art on the wall, this Institute is for you.

Teen Fashion + Beauty Institute assists teens with exploring careers and gaining work experience in the fashion and/or beauty industries. From apparel or accessory design to make up artistry or graphic design, this Institute is perfect for you if your passion lies within these industries.
